Living in Taipei isn’t an easy task! Implementing housing justice, Taipei City and NGOs cooperate in planning a new model of residential housing.

To implement housing justice, the Taipei City Government has proposed various improvements to address the difficult living conditions of disadvantaged groups. In addition, the Taipei City Government will hold an online symposium on “2021 Housing Justice 2.0 Series Forum II-Development and Prospects of Disadvantaged Housing Resources in Taipei” at 10 am tomorrow (27). The Social Affairs Bureau will report on the countermeasures for disadvantaged rental housing and the planning and expectations of NGOs for renting social housing and invite the Lixin Foundation and the Eden Foundation to share the social housing cooperation model in New Taipei and Taichung. Interested people can go to the Social Bureau YouTube channel online to participate together.

To help the disadvantaged to have a “home,” Taipei City proposes various housing resource improvements. In addition to the familiar social housing and rental statehouses, public housing is provided for disadvantaged households with specific identities, such as the elderly, disabled, homeless, and foreign women. In addition, rent subsidies are provided for disadvantaged residents in general renting houses. In conjunction with the central rent subsidy amount of 3,000 to 8,000 yuan, Taipei City will increase it to 11,000 yuan; for people with specific identities who are not easy to rent (such as the disabled, indigenous people…), it is also available. For example, the rent subsidy for the disabled is up to 330 yuan per square meter, and the rent subsidy for urban aboriginal households is 4,000 to 8,500 yuan per household. This subsidizes the needs of the disadvantaged to live and live in Taipei and truly have the feeling of “living and working in peace and contentment.”

Introduce social welfare resources into the community, provide welfare services and housing management links, and help the disadvantaged solve their housing needs and improve the living plight of disadvantaged households. That is, under the premise of “mixed living,” the NGO rents a part of the social housing, and then sublet the room to the disadvantaged cases with practical housing needs, provides relay short-term residence, and counsels the disadvantaged cases, and acts as the housing manager and The media of disadvantaged households helps the disadvantaged to co-habit and run together, thereby achieving community inclusiveness.
