The central area is short of water. In order to solve the current severe drought, the Taichung City Government and the central government have planned to dig 12 wells for people’s livelihood in the Central Park. The first observation well has been completed. The water quality is good and the water output exceeds expectations. It is estimated that there are about 1,800 tons of water produced per day, which can be purified and converted into tap water for people’s livelihood by the Taiwan Water Company. The Construction Bureau emphasized that in the future, they will count parks and green spaces to find more suitable places for wells, and work with the central government to fight drought and solve the problem of public water use.

Construction Director Chen Datian said that the Water Resources Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs found that the Central Park is located on the foundation of Shuinan Airport through the Tai’an Water Well Observation Station in Xitun District. Because it has not been developed and used, there is very abundant and sufficient underground water source below the park and the water quality is stable and fine. For the current unoptimistic water conditions in the central region, the underground water under the park is possible to become the fastest and most appropriate stable water source, and the water supply company will give priority to the people’s livelihood.

The Construction Bureau emphasized that in response to severe water conditions, the central government has announced a district water supply policy” Supply 5, Stop 2″ for the Taichung area since April 6. For this reason, the city government actively strives for more water to meet the needs of industry and people’s livelihood, and seeks RO mobile water purification equipment from the central government to reduce the impact on the industry. So far, 10 small mobile water purification equipment have been installed one after another. Approximately 150 tons of water for people’s livelihood can be provided daily for people to use. At the same time, the government also calls on the people to cherish water resources, develop water-saving concepts, and jointly survive the drought.
